Carrie Schmitt
Carrie Schmitt is an artist and author who began painting as a therapeutic practice after being diagnosed with a life-threatening allergy to heat in 2009. Carrie feels strong devotion for the creative process that comforted her during this difficult time and paints from a place of love and gratitude. Carrie's colorful abstract florals reflect the joy she feels when she creates.
Her grandfather surprised her grandmother each month with a rose, which inspired Carrie to give a rose to a stranger every day for a year in honor of her grandparents. Today her vibrant paintings are sold in galleries and in private collections internationally and licensed for clothing, home décor, accessories, toys and stationery. In 2018, Carrie converted a 2002 Bluebird short school bus into a mobile art studio to have a place to paint and bring art visibility to her community. She lives and works in a cozy cottage deep in the wild and wet rainforest of the Pacific Northwest outside Seattle, Washington.
